Like a dozen other former staffers who did not receive severance or back pay, former editor Kevin Naff and reporter Chris Johnson are playing paperboy Friday morning. The front-page headline of D.C. Agenda reads: "Our mission continues." "It's humbling," says Naff, toting a black bag of copies down 14th Street to the Wilson Building.

High School seniors have many choices to make as they look forward to their future. For Chris Johnson, a senior at Scottsbluff High School, the choice will be which military academy to choose from. "Its pretty unusual that an individual gets nominated to two academies," said Adrian Smith, congressman for the Third District in Nebraska.

Since Bill Belichick became New England's coach in 2000, the Jets are 7-13 against their rivals from Foxborough. Many of the games have been contentious -- remember Spygate and the Eric Mangini-Belichick non-handshakes -- and Belichick and current Jets coach Rex Ryan aren't exactly buddies. It won't help Bill B's mood, either, that New York won 16-9 in Week 2.

With their draft day still one or two seasons away, their largest looming pressure was to remain in the squad, which will be trimmed to 50 by the start of the next TAC Cup season in March. If they had allowed their minds to wander further ahead the club's regional manager, Mick Turner, had some honest words for them. If three, four or five of them were good enough to make it onto an AFL list one day, he said, the Falcons would have done a good job.

I said to them, look, to make the AFL is a very difficult thing and only a few of you will do it   -Mick Turner

Having inside information doesn't always help, either. Well, Favre threw for 232 yards and a touchdown, while Hasselbeck had a season-high four touchdown passes against Jacksonville. That's just bad GM work there, Matt.

The Cleveland Browns are entering dangerous territory. Not just for this season — at 1-8, that's long lost. No, things are getting much uglier, on and off the field, to the point that coach Eric Mangini's rebuilding operation appears doomed already.

Don’t think they have 35 legitimate players on their 53-man roster.   -David Canter

Left cornerback Nick Harper has practiced and isn't on the injury report this week for the first time since breaking his right forearm Oct. 11 in a loss to Indianapolis . Doctors cleared him for contact last week, but the Titans have been cautious because Rod Hood has three interceptions in Harper's absence plus the severity of his initial injury. "He practiced today and feels good," coach Jeff Fisher said.

Dayton staged an entertaining but ultimately unfulfilling comeback in the Puerto Rico Tip-off Classic semifinals, falling to Villanova, 71-65. The Flyers (2-1) trailed by 18 with 14:05 to go and cut it to two with 2:23 left on two London Warren free throws. Corey Fisher made a pair of freebies for 'Nova, but UD answered with a Chris Wright dunk off a Chris Johnson assist with 1:37 to go.

We lost to a really good team that’s only going to get better during the year   -Brian Gregory
